10 Best Laptop For Realtors 2022 – Reviews & Guide

Choosing the best laptop for realtors can be a difficult task, especially if you have little knowledge of each model’s features.

As a realtor, you need a powerful laptop that will help you in your work. You have to carry it to your meetings and show houses to your clients. The laptop should also allow you to edit photos, video conferencing, Internet browsing, and run various applications.

Real estate is a complicated business. Realtors have to deal with everything from buying and selling homes to negotiating deals with contractors, lawyers and accountants. In other words, there’s a lot more to real estate than just listing properties for sale online.

But getting the most out of your time in the field comes down to one thing: the laptop you use to book appointments, coordinate inspections and manage your marketing materials.

In this article, we’ll cover what laptops are right for real estate agents. We’ll also look at how much you can expect to spend on a new laptop, as well as provide some helpful tips on how to find the best deal.

What should you look for in a laptop for real estate?

A high-quality screen for watching videos and using high-resolution images for presentations. A good processor to handle the software you’ll be using. Enough RAM to store all your data without slowing down. Battery life that will last until the end of a long workday, even if you’re out on the road showing properties. And durability to stand up to the rigors of being carried around every day and used in lots of different locations.

Are Macs good for real estate agents?

For example, are Macs good for real estate agents? The answer is yes and here’s why:

The best reason to go with a Mac is that they rarely crash. Instead of being stuck with a computer that has just crashed, Macs allow you to focus on other things, like helping your clients find the perfect house. In addition, Macs are easy to navigate and most come equipped with an intuitive user interface. This helps real estate agents focus on what they do best: helping people find houses and making deals!

Do real estate agents use Microsoft Office?

Yes, real estate agents use Microsoft Office.

The majority of real estate agents use Microsoft Office. According to a survey by Realtor Magazine, 87% of real estate agents use Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

As a real estate agent, you need to be able to create professional documents. Even if your brokerage has templates for you to use, you may find that you need to customize them.

1. Microsoft Surface Pro

Best Laptop For Realtors
SeriesSurface Pro
BrandMicrosoft
Generation10th Generation
Screen Size12.3 Inches
Operating SystemWindows 10 Home

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is a 2-in-1 detachable laptop that has been changed very little from last year’s model. As its name suggests, the Surface Pro 7 features an Intel 10th Gen Core processor, which should make it faster than the Surface Pro 6. However, Microsoft only upgrades to the more expensive Core i7 version of the CPU and doesn’t offer configuration choices for the lower-end versions.

But you don’t need to worry about this, because in addition to being a powerful laptop, it is also good for gaming (thanks to its Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics card). And if you don’t need extra power, there are plenty of options with the lowest-priced Intel Core i3 chip inside instead.

The best part is that it’s still a great deal as compared with other laptops on the market today: you can use it as both a tablet and a laptop – just attach the keyboard cover when you want to get some work done or prop up on your lap and detach when playing games or watching videos.

ALL-DAY BATTERY LIFE

I’m the Surface Pro 7, a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet device with a battery life lasting up to 10 hours. You know that time you were stranded in an airport for 12 hours and your laptop died after 3? That won’t happen here. Plus, I can be charged through any USB-C port (because I am one) or with my special power adapter that you should probably not loose. Or else it’s gonna be a long, dark plane ride home.

This is a good laptop if you’re looking to do some light gaming on the go

This laptop is good if you’re looking to do some light gaming on the go. You can also use it for work, watching movies, or editing.

Pros and Cons

As a laptop, this product is great. It is very light and easy to carry around. The screen is very clear and provides a good viewing experience. The laptop is very fast and has a lot of memory. The keyboard is also very comfortable to type on. Although the battery life could be better, it still lasts pretty long. Overall, considering how fast and comfortable it is to use, this laptop works really well for getting your work done or just enjoying entertainment on the go.

Additionally, as a tablet it works well too! Because of the touchscreen capabilities and active pen support, you can use it for drawing and note-taking as if you were using an actual tablet computer instead of a mouse or trackpad. It’s great if you need something that can double as both a laptop and tablet!

Overall, this product has some minor drawbacks with cost but overall provides an experience that makes up for these drawbacks with ease of use in both its form factors (laptop/tablet).

Drawbacks

While the Surface Pro 7 is a fantastic productivity machine, it’s not the best laptop if you want to game. For example, while operating with Windows 10 Pro, Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD storage the Surface Pro 7 was able to run games like The Sims 4 and Fortnite on low settings and at 720p resolution.

However, if you want to play more modern games like Overwatch or Civilization VI at higher settings and resolutions you may want to check out some of our other top gaming laptops.

In addition to its weaker performance with respect to gaming, there are a few other major drawbacks associated with this device:

It comes pre-loaded with a lot of bloatware (software that takes up space but doesn’t really improve your experience). It is relatively expensive for an ultrabook (the starting price is about $750). It does get heavy once you attach the keyboard cover (like most 2 in 1 devices). It can be difficult to upgrade as Microsoft has made it a bit difficult for users.

2. Asus ZenBook Duo UX481

You can open multiple tabs while running applications like Photoshop without any issues at all. You’ll also notice the difference in performance when you do video editing or transfer large files from one drive to another – it’s lightning fast!

The ASUS ZenBook Duo UX481 comes equipped with Windows 10 Pro so there’s no need for you to purchase your own operating system separately.$

Fast CPU and graphics processor

The ASUS ZenBook Duo UX481 is powered by up to an Intel Core i7 10510U mobile processor, 16 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card.

The ASUS ZenBook Duo UX481 is powered by up to an Intel Core i7 10510U mobile processor, which has the following benefits:

  • It’s very fast! Check out our benchmarks, it matches the speed of some desktop CPUs.
  • It’s low power, which means longer battery life for you.

Innovative dual-screen design

The innovative new ScreenPad Plus gives you a secondary screen right on your laptop, making it easier to multitask whenever you’re on-the-go with tasks such as working with documents and spreadsheets, watching videos and streaming music. It takes all the functions of the traditional touchscreen experience and puts them at your fingertips in a way that enhances your workflow. With a built-in LED-illuminated numeric keypad and handwriting support, you can be more productive than ever before.

More room to work and create

More room to work and create: The 14” Full HD NanoEdge touch display allows you more room to spread out your work, while the 12.6” HDMI touchscreen gives you an auxiliary interactive screen perfect for editing or using as a digital sketchpad.

Embrace productivity with ScreenXpert 2! With its built-in ScreenXpert software, the new ZenBook Duo integrates a full-featured Windows Precision Touchpad (PTP) and a separate touchscreen that combine to offer a highly intuitive way to interact with your laptop. It can extend the Windows taskbar when needed, or it can be used as a handy app launcher for your favorite apps — it’s up to you!

Ultra-portable and light

With a slim-bezel 14” NanoEdge touchscreen in a compact 13” chassis, the ZenBook 14 is one of the world’s smallest 14-inch laptops. And that means you can enjoy a bigger screen while carrying around a smaller laptop! ZenBook 14 offers effortless portability, with a travel-friendly weight of just 2.9 lbs and ultra-thin profile that’s less than 0.7” thin – so it’ll slip easily into your bag without weighing you down.

This laptop has two screens and is great for video editing

While the UX471 allows you to create and edit documents, it feels more suited to working with desktop software packages. The UX481FL-XS74T is the perfect laptop for a creative professional or even a gamer, and its dual-screen display provides all the advantages of a larger display while still retaining two screens’ potential multitasking capabilities.

The new dual-screen technology in the UX481FL is called “NanoEdge” and consists of four quad-core processors—two on each screen—made possible by Intel’s latest 10th Gen Core i7 processor family. This means that you can have twice as many applications open at once and work with zero lag time between application transitions. That’s exactly what we did when editing video clips live on camera in our presentation, an application that usually slows down when there are other running applications.

The only downside to this laptop is its weight (5 pounds) but it has a four-hour battery life so you won’t be away from your computer for long periods of time if you’re in front of your webcam or taking notes during class.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • The price, which is a bit steep but not unreasonable for a high-end laptop with two screens
  • The weight, which is very manageable for carrying around with you or lugging between work and home
  • The speed, which allows for video editing on the go and other tasks that require significant processing power
  • The separate touchpad and number pad, putting all your keys within easy reach and eliminating the unnecessary clutter of having to use part of the keyboard as a touchpad

Drawbacks

Let’s go over some of the weaknesses of this laptop. First, it’s not very cost-effective. While the price tag isn’t too bad for what you get, there are other laptops with similar specs that are cheaper.

Additionally, the weight is a bit much—it weighs around three pounds. This might not sound like a lot until you have to lug it from your car to your home office or class every day.

The laptop is only available in one color: blue, which can be disappointing for those who want more options like purple or pink. Some people may also be disappointed by the lack of an optical drive and its single USB-C port—with so many different kinds of media that still require DVDs and CDs for use, having multiple USB ports would be convenient for connecting external drives. On top of that, there’s no webcam on this laptop to use if you’re conducting video calls!

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • You are the fastest machine on the market.
  • You have great memory and storage, with 256GB NVMe SSD and 8GB DDR4 RAM.
  • Your battery life is exceptional, lasting up to 10 hours with a single charge.

Cons

  • You only have two limited display options—touch and non-touch—and there is no option for a 4K display.

Drawbacks

While the is a solid convertible laptop, it does have a few shortcomings. The primary drawback of this device is its low battery life: reviewers reported that their laptops lasted for about 5 hours and 30 minutes of continuous use on a single charge. This, however, may be caused by the energy drain of the AMD processor.

The speakers’ audio quality is poor; some reviewers complained that it sounded as if people were talking from inside a box when using headphones or external speakers. Additionally, the keyboard is not backlit—although this isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker, many customers did note that they would have preferred to see this feature included on their devices.

The screen’s brightness and resolution are also somewhat lacking in comparison to other models: reviewers noted that they had trouble viewing their screens clearly in bright environments and found the low resolution (1080p) to be disappointing considering that this model’s price point allows for 4K displays.

Finally, several reviewers mentioned that the touchpad was not very responsive or smooth—and some even found it too small for comfortable use.

Hey there! I’m the newest edition to the Apple MacBook Air family. Yes, that’s right—I come from a family of laptops (we’re kind of like the Kardashians). I was designed for all-day battery life, an incredible processor, and a beautiful display. You can take me on the go anywhere, and I’ll keep up with you. But what are my most impressive features?

All-Day Battery Life – I can go longer than ever with up to 18 hours of battery life. That means you can work all day without having to stop and plug in (unless your battery runs out on your phone, too).

Powerful Performance – I take on everything from professional-quality editing to action-packed gaming with ease. The Apple M1 chip has an 8-core CPU that delivers up to 3.5x faster performance than the previous generation while using way less power.

Superfast Memory – My memory is super fast and efficient, so apps launch faster and run better.

Stunning Display – I have a stunning 13” Retina display that makes even the smallest details look crisp and clear when you watch movies or edit photos. It’s also backlit for easy reading in dim light.

Apple-designed M1 chip for a giant leap in CPU, GPU, and machine learning performance

The M1 chip takes the MacBook Air to a whole new level of performance. With up to 3.5x faster CPU and 5x faster graphics, the M1 chip is by far the most powerful chip we’ve ever created.

Designed specifically for the Mac, our M1 system-on-chip (SoC) integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and so much more onto a single tiny chip. That means higher performance in everything you do—with incredible efficiency that lets you enjoy longer battery life and enables an entirely new class of incredibly thin and light computers like the MacBook Air. The result is a notebook that’s ready to take on your wildest ideas—and still go farther than ever before.

Get more done with up to 20 hours of battery life, the longest ever in a Mac

You will be productive for up to 20 hours with this powerful laptop. Your work will be flawless and fast. Whether you are using it for work or play, you can be sure that your laptop works well and looks good while doing it. You will also enjoy the great sound quality, ease of use and performance of your MacBook Air. If there is ever a problem, you can easily contact customer service. Overall, this is a great value for money and we know you will enjoy using it!

  • 8-core CPU delivers up to 3.5x faster performance to tackle projects faster than ever

  • 16-core Neural Engine for advanced machine learning.

16-core Neural Engine for advanced machine learning

Chances are you’ve heard of the term machine learning, but what exactly is it? Machine learning is the application of artificial intelligence that provides a computer with the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. This revolutionary technology can be utilized in our daily lives to help us perform tasks like analyzing speech and facial recognition.

The Neural Engine’s 16-core design allows it to run 11 trillion operations per second, enabling improved performance on even the most intensive ML models. The 8-core GPU also enables a whole new level of performance, so you can enjoy higher frame rates for more fluid gaming and graphics-intensive apps. Combining these two technologies gives you dramatically faster processing speeds when handling large amounts of data or performing complex analyses.

Active cooling system sustains incredible performance

The M1 chip has an advanced active cooling system that dynamically manages heat, allowing the MacBook Air to sustain incredible performance without a fan.

As you work, the system intelligently balances performance and efficiency to maintain optimal operating temperatures. So it can unleash the power of M1 while still remaining silent and putting out less heat.

And because there’s no fan, airflow is diverted away from the device and out the back vents. That means fewer particles are pulled in through vents or gaps in the keyboard — making for a cleaner computer on the inside and out.

13.3-inch Retina display with P3 wide color for vibrant images and incredible detail

The 13.3” Retina display has a 2560-by-1600 native resolution, which provides 227 pixels per inch (ppi). It features a 16:10 aspect ratio and support for millions of colors. Pixels are individually lit by the backlight to give bright images with vibrant colors and remarkable contrast. The Retina display also features True Tone technology, which adjusts the white balance of the display for more natural viewing in all kinds of lighting environments.

The screen is powered by integrated graphics, which use system memory to provide graphics performance. The graphics card shares memory with the system, so it varies depending on how much RAM is installed. This model has 8 GB of RAM and therefore uses shared system memory for graphics processing. Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 provides up to 80% faster graphics performance than the previous generation MacBook Air, while still delivering great battery life—up to 15 hours wireless web browsing and up to 18 hours Apple TV app movie playback.

Fast SSD storage launches apps and opens files in an instant

You can make quick work of large files with the MacBook Air’s 256 GB SSD storage, which is up to twice as fast as its predecessor. The solid-state drive is a trusted type of storage that offers reliable performance and fast read/write speeds. You’ll be able to zip through your workload or open apps quickly without having to sit around and wait.

Since SSDs have no moving parts, they’re less likely to fail than traditional hard drives that have moving parts. However, you should keep in mind that SSDs tend to cost more than other types of storage solutions on the market because they use faster types of memory and don’t store nearly as much data. If you’re storing large files like videos or music collections, be aware that an SSD will fill up quickly.

Rear True Tone sensor detects ambient light levels for accurate, natural-looking images on your screen

  • The rear True Tone sensor detects ambient light levels and automatically adjusts the color temperature to match your environment, making web pages and email look as natural as the printed page.
  • So, whether you’re reading a web page on your porch or watching a movie in bed, it will look absolutely gorgeous.

This is one powerful laptop!

Anyone can benefit from this powerful laptop. It’s fast, so it is perfect for business, gaming, video editing, audio editing, blogging, web development, graphic design, photography and students.

Pros and Cons of Apple MacBook Air Laptop

Now, let’s move on to what I really like about this laptop. The most impressive thing is the peak output of its speakers: they can go up to 100 decibels. That’s loud! You won’t need a separate Bluetooth speaker for listening to music or playing games because these speakers are so good. If you like your laptop loud and proud, you’ll love this one.

Another cool feature is the face recognition software (FaceTime HD camera) that allows you to log in just by looking at your laptop. How’s that for efficiency? No more fiddling with passwords when all you want to do is get down to business! The FaceTime HD camera also means that friends, family members, and colleagues can see your face clearly when conducting video calls or conferences.

The last impressive feature of the Apple MacBook Air Laptop is its Touch ID fingerprint sensor that enables secure login and faster checkout when shopping online using Safari (the Apple web browser).

Drawbacks

Apple’s MacBook Air is an excellent laptop, but it’s not without its drawbacks.

Before reading on, consider yourself warned: we’ll be going into some detail about the downsides of this machine. There are plenty of laptops out there with far less flaws than those that we’re about to discuss here, but the fact is that if you buy the MacBook Air, you won’t be getting all of the features that you’d like to have at a more affordable price point.

Our biggest complaint comes down to one thing: the lack of Thunderbolt ports. As you may know, Apple made a big deal about offering Gigabit Ethernet and USB-A ports on their high-end MacBook Pro models last year—but they didn’t give them to us in our entry-level 13” model either . The company claims that this choice was made for ” thermal management ,” although no such reason was ever proffered or explained by anyone who worked on this very important aspect of design engineering in Cupertino. For whatever reason—and there are many reasons—Thunderbolt only shows up on Apple’s most expensive machines.

On top of that, our charger doesn’t fit into any available port on the sides or back of our machine; it has a MagSafe connector instead, which means that when plugged in it will shut down our computer automatically if it falls (or gets knocked off) onto its side. This is great if you’ve got your laptop resting just on your desk while working at your home office (assuming you have a desk), but not so much if you’re taking it out and about with you.

CONS:

  • Keyboard and Trackpad

Drawbacks

There are many drawbacks to this laptop including its lack of ports (there are only two USB ports), poor battery life (only lasts about 4 hours), and low-quality materials used to build the case (the plastic feels cheap). However, these flaws don’t make this product any less desirable because there aren’t any other options available in this price range.

With a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, it offers more room than ever for display with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage.

The MateBook X Pro is only 0.57 inches thick and is available in Space Gray or Mystic Silver color options. And because it weighs only 2.93 pounds, it’s ideal as a travel companion for work or pleasure!

13.9-inch 3K touchscreen

The 13.9-inch FullView display on the MateBook X Pro has a resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels. It’s bright, too—measuring 450 nits and featuring 100% sRGB color gamut. This means you’ll enjoy vivid images and video with razor-sharp detail plus extremely accurate color reproduction.

The 3:2 aspect ratio is an ideal compromise between 16:9 widescreen and 4:3 classic displays. It provides more vertical space for viewing documents, websites, and videos without scrolling as often while still offering a great 16:9 experience when watching movies or playing games.

With its 88% screen-to-body ratio and ultra slim bezels (only 4.4mm), this laptop provides maximum real estate in a compact package that’s easy to carry around all day long without weighing you down or taking up precious desk space when it comes time to get to work—especially if you prefer using an external monitor for your home office setup or working at one of those sick coworking spaces we mentioned earlier with all the free coffee.

NVIDIA GeForce MX150 Graphics with 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM

  • The GPU is based on the Nvidia Pascal architecture (like the GTX 10x series) and offers 384 shader cores, 24 texture units and 16 ROPs. It’s clocked at 1468 – 1532 MHz (Boost) and therefore offers a slightly higher performance than a desktop 940MX. The memory is connected via a 64-bit memory interface running at 2000 MHz and provides up to 32 GB/s bandwidth.
  • Compared to the older 940MX, the MX150 offers comparable performance at low settings only and is therefore not suitable for high details in Full HD. In terms of power consumption, the chip has a rated board TDP of 25W including DDR3 and GDDR5 graphics memory (90% efficiency). NVIDIA claims that it should be twice as fast as its predecessor Maxwell based 940MX while using half of the power.

6GB LPDDR3 2133MHz RAM, 512GB SSD

The two most important factors when you consider a laptop are the RAM and hard disk. Your laptop has 6GB of memory that matches with Intel Core i5-8250U Processor. A solid state drive (SSD) is much faster than a hard disk drive (HDD). It’s also more reliable, durable and silent. This computer has 512GB of SSD to store all your important data.

A typical 500 GB hard drive costs under $100 while a 256 GB SSD could easily cost over $100.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro is a great laptop

If you’re looking for a lightweight, 13-inch laptop with a 4K touchscreen and solid performance, the Huawei MateBook X Pro is an excellent choice. It’s even priced at $1,499, which is pretty reasonable considering the hardware inside. It’s not without its problems (the keyboard has a bit of flex to it and the trackpad could be better), but if you can get past these minor flaws then it would suit your needs very well.

“`

Pros and Cons

You’re probably wondering if this is the right laptop for you. To help you with your decision, I’ve broken down the pros and cons of this model:

  • Pros: The price point is great. It’s not the cheapest laptop out there, but it’s certainly not the most expensive. So it really depends on your budget and what else you can get for your money if you go with a different one. There are a few other Huawei laptops that are cheaper (the MateBook X Pro thin & light laptop and the Matebook E Signature Edition 2 in 1 PC), but they also have less impressive specs than this one.
  • Cons: The screen size is small. You might be looking at bigger laptops because of their screens, but I wouldn’t write off this one just yet because its screen size isn’t that much smaller than those other laptops. In fact, I’d argue that 13 inches can be more easily carried around than some of these gigantic ones that people lug around everywhere!

Drawbacks

The Huawei MateBook X Pro has a few drawbacks. Firstly, it’s expensive. This isn’t a $500 laptop—it’s closer to $1,500. You’re getting a premium product that lives up to every expectation, but it’s not cheap. Still, if you have money to spend, the MateBook X Pro is worth consideration.

That webcam placement is also still an issue for some people and there are some other potential issues: no Thunderbolt 3 port (the MateBook X Pro only has USB-C ports), no microSD card reader, speakers aren’t great (but they’re decent), no Ethernet port (but there is an adapter in the box), backlit keyboard might bother some people and there is no USB-C to HDMI adapter in the box — you’ll need to purchase one separately if you want to use an external monitor with your new laptop.

These are minor quibbles though and shouldn’t dissuade you from buying what is currently the best Windows ultraportable on the market today — even more so than Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Acer Spin 1 is a great laptop for the price, with some nice and useful features. The build quality is really solid, but not too heavy and robust. It still looks good, even though it’s made of plastic. Acer offers an extra battery at the back but I really prefer to use my original one. The keyboard is very comfortable to type on and has good travel distance between keys which are spaced well apart from each other, without having any gaps at all.

The screen makes for a very sharp viewing experience when watching movies or web videos on Netflix, YouTube or similar services thanks to its high resolution and low pixel density (1280×800). I could read text reasonably well in all sizes of fonts as well as enough space between paragraphs of text in eBooks.

But the lack of touch capability limits this laptop to certain types of tasks such as browsing the internet or working on documents that you don’t need touch capabilities for such as spreadsheets or presentations.

All in all the Acer Spin 1 11 is a good computer with some smart features that work perfectly fine without touch capabilities because they make up only a small part of your daily computing needs anyway which is what manufacturers want you to believe but keep getting away with it due to poor consumer education about how most modern computers work.

Drawbacks

The Acer Spin 1 is a good value for what it costs. It does have some drawbacks.

  • The keyboard is very good, but the bottom row with the function keys and arrows has small keys and feels cramped.
  • The screen is definitely not the brightest, but has great color and contrast. Some of us at Geeks love the deep black levels that IPS screens can provide. This one doesn’t get as dark as an OLED display, but it’s close enough to be really great.
  • While we are on similar terms with the speakers: they are pretty good! We were able to play music out loud without any distortions at all volume levels, while maintaining clarity and even a bit of bass in certain songs or genres.
  • The trackpad is also very good, but we found ourselves constantly having to scroll down pages because our palms would accidentally brush against it while typing.

Is it a good laptop? Yes the image quality is very good in the monitor but you don’t get much battery life and the price of this laptop is not justified though it has really impressive specs. But if you have money then why not buy it because it looks very cool and slim. The backlit keyboard also looks great on this laptop which makes typing easy for you even in low light conditions. Pros and Cons

The Dell XPS 13 is a laptop with a touchscreen, so you can do everything on it (except for drink coffee or use an airplane bathroom), including typing up this review. Fitting in the hand nicely, the display is bright, crisp and stunning. This laptop’s weight makes it extremely comfortable to hold. It weighs only 3 pounds, making it light enough to pick up and put down without much effort.

It has 16GB of DDR4 memory and 512GB SSD storage. The Intel Core i7-1195G7 processor provides plenty of power for any task you throw at it. It has 13-inch HD non-touch screen display (1,920 x 1,080) that provides plenty of detail on the screen and makes even small text readable when working at a nice angle. To keep the battery running longer while typing this review on my Dell XPS 13 laptop I had 88% battery life remaining after 6 hours 45 minutes of use!

Drawbacks

Drawbacks of the Dell XPS 13 9310 Thin and Light Touchscreen Laptop:

  • The laptop’s webcam is in the bottom-left corner of the screen, which is not a very flattering angle.
  • It features an 11th gen Intel Core i7 processor (Tiger Lake), but you won’t be able to use it to make pasta because this laptop cannot be used as a stovetop or boiling pot. I learned this the hard way when I needed to cook pasta for my lunch break, and had to settle for a microwavable bowl of ramen instead.
  • Although it weighs less than three pounds, you should still lift with your legs when picking up or putting down the laptop.

512GB SSD storage4

You know what would suck? If you went to all the trouble of setting up your new laptop, only to realize that it didn’t have enough space for any of your files. That’s why 512GB SSD storage is part of the base configuration. SSD stands for “solid state drive,” which is a form of storage that works very well because it is faster than other types of storage, like hard disk drives (HDD).

While SSDs are more expensive than HDDs, they are generally worth paying more for because they make computers work better and faster. So there’s no reason to suffer from having your computer run slowly.

Superfast SSD performance with sequential read speeds up to 3.0GB/s

  • A solid state drive (SSD) is a high-performance storage device on computers that is faster and more reliable than hard disk drives (HDDs). SSDs maintain your data even after you’ve shut down the system, unlike RAM, which loses its memory when the power is turned off.
  • An SSD’s read speed measures how much information can be stored on the drive and how fast it can be accessed.
  • Read speeds of 3.0GB/s are good; they’re considered particularly fast, meaning that you’ll have speedy access to any files you save to this laptop. This MacBook Pro has sequential read speeds up to 3.0GB/s.
  • Having fast read speeds improves productivity by speeding up your computer and improving the quality of everyday tasks like writing emails or using spreadsheet software at work.

The new MacBook Pro features Apples new M1 chip which provides more power than previous generations of MacBooks

The new Apple MacBook Pro features a custom-designed M1 chip made specifically to maximize performance and battery life. The M1 chip is the fastest CPU that Apple has ever produced, allowing you to run many apps faster and for longer than before. The M1 also includes a 16-core neural engine, which allows for better machine learning capabilities.

You can now run iPhone and iPad apps on your MacBook (although not all of them will work). With this laptop, you also get 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage, and macOS Big Sur

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • The new M1 chip is a huge improvement over previous generations and a very good value as compared to Intel’s chip of the same generation.
  • Battery life is much better than previous generations, even with the higher pixel density of the Retina display and increased power consumption from that.
  • Performance is much better than previous generations in many workloads.

Cons:

  • Expensive. Many other laptops out there are just as capable and are much less expensive for the same performance or offer more for the same price (though many do not have comparable battery life).

Drawbacks

  • The price. Touch screens, an SD card slot, a headphone jack, and Touch ID are pretty standard amenities on a high-end laptop that costs over $1,000. While the MacBook Pro’s performance is stellar (see the “Performance” section below), its lack of these features disqualifies it from being considered a solid value at its price point.
  • Canonical disadvantages such as these are part and parcel of having an Apple product—and for many people, this is more than made up for by the quality of their technology.
  • This is just something to keep in mind when deciding whether to make this purchase, especially if you’re not loyal to Apple products and want to get the most bang for your buck.
  • The absence of a touch screen and Touch ID will likely be overlooked by those who primarily use their laptops for work (especially those who work from home). However, taking notes on the road with a stylus can be useful when you don’t have access to paper; plus it’s helpful when browsing websites or scrolling through long documents on-the-go (which we all do often now that we’re spending so much time online).
  • Additionally, while most people won’t be using their laptops as cameras on-the-go during quarantine restrictions anyway.
