The AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) interface is still used by a number of older graphics cards. There are even a few newer cards that use this interface, but if you’re looking to build a new system, you’ll probably want to look at PCIe cards, which are more up-to-date. That said, if you have an older motherboard with an AGP slot and need a card that will work with it, there are plenty of options.

The market for AGP graphics cards is limited, but there are still plenty around from both Nvidia and AMD. However, the two companies have different attitudes towards the technology. Nvidia has released several new AGP graphics cards in recent years – including the GeForce 6200 and GeForce 6600 – and continues to support the interface on its latest products. AMD’s Radeon X series of graphics cards all use PCI Express interfaces, so you’ll need to look at its older models if you want an AGP card.

Not all AGP slots are created equal. Some are only compatible with 2x or 4x cards (which operate at half or quarter speed) while others can handle higher speeds of 8x or even faster. You should always check your motherboard’s manual before buying an AGP card.

The reason I purchased this was to have a second card installed in my computer to plug monitors into. I’m running a newer video card, but it only has one output. This video card works great, but don’t expect high quality image. It has lacks depth and crispness. It’s a basic video display low resolution. If you want higher resolution, please don’t buy it, it only works on older computers with lower versions.

I had no issues installing the card or installing the driver for Windows 7 64-bit. Just download the most recent 64-bit driver from ATI and the setup program will do all the work for you. The card works flawlessly and is completely silent.

Overall, it’s a good cheap solution if you need 2 video outputs on your computer though there is no digital output such as DVI or HDMI on this card, just VGA.
